Influenced by a peak oil scenario, a section of a local street has been reappropriated to support local sustainable activities. The road has transformed into a productive Pavilion supporting nearby food production activities. Front yards and footpaths that were once ornamental and largely unused are now productive fruit and vegetable gardens, activating the entire streetscape. Council strategically targets streets, while neighbours who do not want to participate in gardening are offered incentives to let others use their land. The shared Pavilion collects water, produces energy and has a community kitchen, which can be used for commercial initiatives transforming the space into a vibrant community place.
