A portable induction hotplate: cook outdoors communally or quietly at home.

In the words of the designer: Cooking, eating, socialising. Three favourite pastimes that all Australians love to partake in. The EBD will be no different. The MyQ is a portable grill that eliminates the need to own large BBQs.  Maximizing uselife and harnessing renewable solar energy are key sustainments addressed by the MyQ as well as aiming to increase social activity.  Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) technology is a thin film integrated into tensile fabric.   Integrated into sun shades over a central cooking hub, it powers the MyQ as well.  Any power not used by the hub or the MyQ is fed back into the grid. Each resident will have their own MyQ which can be carried home for indoor use, where the induction power base plugs into mains power. Although gas burners deliver heat to a cooking surface faster, electric cooking uses 70% of the heat created, where gas only uses around 30-40%. Most important to me is the social aspect of the product. The MyQ would bring residents of the EBD together by encouraging social behaviour.
