The 'Invisible Tree' encourages community participation in local food systems. mk_ampitheatre
This project builds on the idea of vertical farming, incorporating facilities for both food production and distribution on site. Tree.d encourages public engagement with the process of growing food rather than just consuming, providing open space and an amphitheatre for community activity. In the core of the building is an ‘invisible tree'; a series of fruit trees which grow down from the lowest level of the vertical farm, encouraging the public to share in food production through an honesty system for the fruit they pick. Located just south of the junction of the main train lines in Sunshine, the site incorporates the existing Foodworks, carpark and available vacant land.
