Kate Archdeacon presented a perspective on "Urban Agriculture for a Resilient City" at the 2011 South East Australian Bioregional Permaculture Convergence at the beginning of October. The session included a film on urban agriculture in New York City by Chris Grose (scoutfilms) and Heidi Lee.

It includes work from VEIL design studios as well as real-world examples from the VEIL blogs Sustainable Melbourne and Sustainable Cities Net. The conference was organised by Permaculture Melbourne (who celebrate their thirtieth birthday this year) and was held at the South Melbourne Commons. The conference brought people together to share stories and discuss where permaculture is going as a movement. Presentations were given by a wide range of local activists from local group leaders to gardeners, educators, writers, designers, foresters and more, and there were site visits to community gardens, market gardens and community nurseries.
