Project Introduction
As a Central Activity District (CAD), Broadmeadows is one of six centres which will service both metropolitan Melbourne and nearby regional areas. The CADs will provide opportunities for future employment growth and public investment with high quality, well designed living and working environments. Broadmeadows CAD is set to become Melbourne's ‘Capital of the North', which means Broadmeadows will be the focus of important future growth and investment. It will be the main commercial and service centre for Melbourne's northern region and will be the focus of important future growth and investment. Broadmeadows CAD will offer employment, learning, education and services with a mix of shopping, recreation and transport facilities.
Over the next 20 years Broadmeadows CAD is to provide for:
- More jobs,commercial and business services
- A strong and diverse shopping and retail sector, providing more choices as to where to shop Specialised services which support both businesses, workers and communities in Melbourne's northern region
- Significant opportunities for housing redevelopment, providing a greater variety of housing choice
- Improved walking, cycling, public transport and car access
- Vibrant centres of community activity with a range of public facilities and entertainment options.
